Seeking an individual who possess a significant Information Technology background in the Pharmaceutical Industry The individual must have proven experience in managing, leading and administering IT groups at multiple locations. 5-7 years full-time managerial experience in a global corporate environment with strong experience in working in the R&D-R&ED facilities.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to managing IT Technology, Operations, and Support for all R&D and R&ED US locations. The Associate Director should have the ability to work individually and possess strong communication skills in working with the Research/Life Science side of the Business.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. The responsibility of the position manages and overseas the following IT areas, including but not limited to; Data Center Management, Storage, Backup & Recovery, IT Support Desk Services, Virtualization, File & Print services, High Performance Computing, Laboratory and Computational PCs, IT test and evaluation lab, and Infrastructure Service Delivery.
2. Understand R&D and R&ED strategic business objectives and translate them into tactical goals to be implemented by the ITGOS Technology teams.
3. Work with Life/Science R&D-R&ED Technical Application owners and Infrastructure technical leads to manage demand and oversee delivery of HPC, Clusters, and all other Scientific solutions,
4. Act as ITGOS Relationship lead to RDI (Research and Development) team and engage ITGOS resources as necessary to meet requirements.
5. Planning, Execution, Coordination (internal to Celgene and using 3rd party resources) on architecture design, development, implementation and service operations of all IT systems within the mentioned area of responsibility.
6. Set directions and lead the establishment of technology roadmaps, evaluation of new technologies, and improvements of the RDI IT Infrastructure, fostering close collaboration and global alignment between the International, Americas and India Technology groups.
7. Handle timely an clear communications with all IT Management, Business Partners, and stakeholders.
8. Coordination with the ITGOS Security team to ensure adherence to all aspects of IT Security
9. Coordination with the ITGOS Technology team to ensure all sites are following best practices and to full compliance with established policy and procedure.
10. Ensure at all time that all Technology activities are established to function in accordance to Celgene SOPs and other compliance guidance from FDA, SOX and other applicable regulations.
11. Manage all IT projects costs within established and agreed budget and/or project based budget.
12. Responsible for the coordination of training for all ITGOS Technology US R&D site teams.
13. Conduct analysis and planning of systems infrastructure to forecast and address the capacity needs of the business.
14. Management of a team of technical talents in several IT areas. Develop, motivate and manage that team, including recruiting of new team members, as needed, according to budget.
15. Foster an environment that strives for high availability of infrastructure required to support business and R&D systems.
16. Ensure reported problems, issues, systems failure etc are resolved as soon as possible (within existing / agreed SLA) by supporting the involved IT teams and proper communications procedures are followed.

Skills/Knowledge Required:
Working knowledge of installed technical environments and new technologies that emerge in the marketplace including knowledge of architecture, implementation and maintenance processes and procedures. Environments include:

LAN and WAN technologies
Voice, VoIP, voice mail and audio/video conferencing technologies
Data center operations
Terminal Services & Citrix XenApp
Security operations and corporate security standards
Server and operating system technologies, including Linux and Windows Server
Network and Server monitoring technologies
Live and offline data replication & backup for disaster recovery
Server, desktop and application virtualization
Private and Public Cloud technologies
High Performance Computing
BA or BS Degree Required
(Technical degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications or equivalent experience)
5 + years Pharmaceutical Industry background strongly preferred.
Proven track record of building relationships with personnel with diverse backgrounds
10+ years of overall work experience in IT including at least 7 years in IT Infrastructure, with 5+ years experience in an IT Infrastructure/Technology management position.
7+ years in teams / large projects supervisory experience
3+ years experience in managing IT Support teams spread across multiple remote locations
Understanding of CFR Part 11 and Sarbanes-Oxley regulatory requirements and experience with processes and procedures to apply and administer these and other necessary regulatory requirements in an operational environment.
ITIL Foundation v3 certification is a plus
Experience in change management, product release, version control, and configuration management.
Experience in managing and recruiting people

Strong IT Infrastructure technical background, able to assess team recommendation and provide strategic vision
Must be flexible and able to travel as needed.

Demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the following R&D functions including but not limited to: Drug Discovery, Clinical Operations, Drug Safety, Regulatory Operations, Clinical Supplies, Biostatistics, SAS Programming, Data Management, Pharmaceutical Drug Development is a plus.
Experience with IT support models including ITIL would be preferred.
Demonstrates a high level understanding of the drug development process and the associated business processes.
Experience managing IT vendor relationships and contracts and resolving conflicts
Demonstrated ability to raise and negotiate difficult issues with team members and vendors
Knowledge of Industry and Technology trends and Best Practices in Data Integration, Application Integration, Information Management, and Business Analytics..
Solid technical understanding on most key components of IT Infrastructure including but not limited to hardware, servers, data storage, virtualization technologies, security, operating systems and system administration is vital.
Up to date on IT Infrastructure technologies to guide innovations, service lifecycle and improvements.
